The Comet Red Handflare is engineered to withstand harsh environmental exposure and remain fully functional even after immersion in water. It delivers a bright red flame with 15,000 candela output for 60 seconds, providing an effective short‑range signal for pinpointing position day or night.
The unique telescopic handle enhances grip, handling safety and ergonomics, while keeping the flare compact when stowed. A pull‑wire ignitor allows quick and simple activation.
The handflare complies with SOLAS 74/88 and is mandatory in lifeboats and liferafts. It is also suitable for commercial vessels and recreational boats. A white warn‑off flare from Comet is also available for collision avoidance or area illumination.
Storage: Should be stored in a robust polybottle or in a dry, easily accessible place at ambient temperature.
Operation:
- Pull out the red end until the telescopic tube is fully extended.
- Unscrew the red end cap and point away.
- Pull ball sharply to ignite.
- Hold at arm’s length and point downwind. End plug ejects after approximately 2 seconds.
