What is a Ridgeway Rockbag?
The Kyowa Filter Unit® Rockbag is a high-strength net structure filled with rock, designed to function as a filter layer in marine environments. Manufactured from 100% recycled PET (rPET) and based on Japanese technology, the product is used in civil engineering and construction projects to provide protection against erosion and scour.
The Rockbag system was first deployed in the offshore wind sector in 2013 at the Teesside Offshore Wind Project, where it was used for scour protection around monopile foundations. Since then, the system has been utilized in a variety of projects to protect subsea infrastructure, including exposed Cable Protection Systems (CPS) located at the base of offshore structures.
The flexible design of the Kyowa Filter Unit® Rockbag allows it to adapt to varying seabed conditions and complex offshore environments. The system is engineered to withstand environmental stresses while supporting natural integration with the seabed and the development of marine habitats.
Each Rockbag is equipped with a dedicated lifting point for handling and installation and can be filled using specially developed frames. These features are designed to facilitate efficient handling and installation compared with certain traditional subsea protection methods.
We look forward to introducing Ridgeway's innovative solutions to our customers and contributing to more sustainable and efficient offshore and marine infrastructure projects.
